End of the summer update

I’m going to start this post with an apology to all of my regular customers. The last serious update was months ago, and I’ve fallen off on writing over the course of the summer. There are many reasons for this, and I hope that all will be explained.

A year ago, I had decided to move my coffee roasting business out of the mall. The space was small, it was loud, and I couldn’t figure out a way to expand my business. I thought I had found a great new location and started the process to move GGC there.

Initially the move was fantastic. There was room for me to purchase big bags of beans. I had a great dining area and a kitchen. There were community members in the town I moved the business to that were excited to have me there. Unfortunately, there were some serious complications with the location, and I was forced to move again in April.

The new location also had a lot of potential. I was looking forward to working with the person I was sharing the space with and trying to create something new for Manhattan, KS. Once again, there was complications, and I decided the best course of action was moving out.

This did not create any kind of stability for my customers and put roasting on hold for a while. I know that consistency is key with a business, and it was never my intent to create this chaos for those that love what GGC does. The good news is that the end is in site for the ups and downs that we’ve been experiencing, and we are ready to move forward with our new reboot.

I have been posting some pictures of the progress on the coffee trailer. It has been a huge effort, as I’ve done 90% of the work myself. I’m not a builder, plumber, electrician, mechanic, or any of those other things that are needed to do what I’m doing. I just have dedication and respect for my customers that has kept me moving forward.

The current (and always desired) operating environment will be a mobile coffee trailer that will offer custom roasting services on site, eventually. We have a generator, so we can operate the roaster, kitchen, and espresso machine, but not all at the same time. It is not ideal, but then, the starting and running of Galaxy Girl Coffee has been on a nonexistent budget and minimal funding.

My passion is roasting, but I also understand that coffee drinks help fund the rest of the business, along with providing a Decent amount of marketing. I have an amazing espresso machine that will do everything I need it to do and is completely portable. Over the next few months, we will begin to schedule espresso catering events, along with signing up to attend various functions as a vendor.

Understand that the plan is to operate as a drink trailer 2-3 days a week, once the trailer is finished. We will have a monthly calendar that we will post, with all events clearly scheduled. This will allow those of you that desperately need to get your Cloud Latte fix the ability to find us.

We also will be continuing our partnership with Village Geek and Dearborn Coffee. We love roasting for them, and they, in turn, are happy to be a pickup location for any of my bean customers. Please take the time to thank them for this option, if you happen to order for pickup there.

The website will be the next major overhaul. This summer has seen it slip to the wayside, as I’ve been focused on the trailer. I understand that it’s operation isn’t ideal, and it needs to be more coherent and streamlined. Once the trailer is finished, we’ll start work on the website.
